The library still fulfills all the familiar and traditional tasks and services as in the past, but the environment looks totally different. One important hallmark of the electronic library will be the conscious movement towards the more widespread use of electronic media for storage, retrieval and delivery of information. Yet, conventional books will still coexist alongside the electronic publications (Barker, 1994, p. 227). In this paper I have tried to outline some of the actions and role-functions fulfilled by systems librarians with specific reference made to the role within the Ferdinand Postma Library.

It has a few scuff marks but appears to be working so I’ll give it a good cleaning and keep it as I’m not going to drop it off at the post office. The systems librarian play a crucial role with the ability to cope with new technological developments and apply them where necessary inside the library, and this role will continue. In order to function effectively and efficiently, some formal training of systems librarians must be considered. I look forward to interact with other systems librarians more at this conference. Sometimes I feel a little cut off from the rest of the library staff, and I feel the need for a discussion group, especially when I struggle with installations or systems problems. The easy accessibility of database information depends greatly on a user-friendly and transparent menu-system. Our system was developed on the Norton's Batch Enhancer program and works well within our library.

The systems librarian needs to be familiar with the use of these software in order to help and train library staff. Although ITM is responsible for the hardware maintenance, it is essential for a systems librarian to be able to edit system configuration, change the SETUP of a PC, or replace a printer when needed.

I fill a water crock with 2 1/2 gallons of water every night. During the day, the used water falls into a “sink” of a 6″ deep white recessed tub that I can lift out of the counter and pour into our gardens after each use. Since I only use Baking soda as a detergent , and usually follow my baths with a vinegar rinse, the water has no chemicals at all that would harm my veggies, and you should see the happy garden! Another thing that really boosts my garden is saving the first morning urine in a container, mixing with grey water, and pouring it into the garden. This adds much needed nitrogen and helps in the composting of my toilet. The majority of folks don’t think twice about these things and it’s wonderfully convenient to not have to.
As a flat mop for spot cleaning it is good quality. To use the bucket is trial and error at first. How much water to use as what side of bucket is for what. Once that part is figured out it works great. I have RA and OA, mostly effecting my hands and wringing a mop efficiently is just not in the cards. Over time I have purchased several different types of mops with fairly smooth head attachments like Swiffer and Libman, which I would use after vacuuming.

It has place for liquid soap, also it has storage area within bucket. I would like to return it but i already used it twice so i dont feel good to return to store. Another thing that bothers me is attachment of rod and mop head is too strong so everytime you need rinse first you have to give extra efforts to make it straight then start rinsing.
By far the majority of retrofits we advise homeowners on are from the greywater bucket brigade – who for year used a bucket to move the greywater. Then on the first bathroom or home remodel they have it diverted to the outside. Would like instructions on how to make the grey water “box” in picture at beginning of this post. We use a shampoo to wash all the natural oils out of our hair, then use a conditioner to put them all back in, only with some extra ylang ylang and essence of beaver nipple. Surely if we needed those things in our hair we would have them naturally?
I chose the Reveal mop b/c of its ease, a quick grab n clean. You have to fill the bucket all the way in order to clean the side. It would be nice if it could go in the opposite way but it doesn’t click into place and the way the cloth hooks on it can’t. Once you figure that out it cleans the floor very effectively.
